After breakfast, the adventure continues south toward Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most important archaeological sites. Today is dedicated to discovering the wonders of Fes, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. With a professional local guide, you’ll step into the labyrinthine medina of Fes el-Bali, a maze of over 9,000 narrow streets where ancient traditions still thrive. You’ll visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture, and the Al-Qarawiyyin University, one of the oldest in the world. Explore the colorful tanneries, where leather is dyed using centuries-old techniques, and wander through the bustling souks filled with artisans crafting pottery, metalwork, and carpets. Lunch can be enjoyed in a traditional restaurant overlooking the medina rooftops. In the afternoon, drive to the Royal Palace gates and the Jewish quarter for a glimpse of Fes’s diverse history before ending the day with a panoramic view from the Merenid tombs.
